The dependence of the relative contact zone length on the distance between the cracks under the remote tensile loading is shown in Fig. 3.2. Corresponding results for the dimensionless SIF are presented in Fig. 3.3. As expected, decrease of the distance between the cracks influences the contact zone length only for l/h close to 1 and leads to the significant growth of the SIF.
